He held several offices in Philadelphia including Clerk of the Admiralty Court, Notary Public, and Prothonotary of the Superior Court. Belmont Mansion was one of several properties owned by Peters in Philadelphia. He gave the property to his son, Judge Richard Peters, when he returned to England in 1768., Digitized with funding from a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (PW-506-19-10), 2010-2012.
