Volume of compiled prints and drawings by lithographer, etcher, and artist Augustus Kollner primarily depicting landscapes of Fairmount Park and originally published in his "Bits of Nature ...," one of four volumes in his 1878 series of small folio pictures. Also contains views of Philadelphia and Bucks and Montgomery counties. Several of the prints also show park and riverscape; residences and estates; animals, including canal mules, horses, cows, and dogs; park visitors, including an African American family, children, and persons on foot and on horseback; steamboats, rowboats, and other vessels on the Schuylkill River; and rock formations. Other views show wharf workers at lunch and a cliff-side residence at North Twenty-Seventh Street near the park., Mount Pleasant Mansion was built 1761-1765 for Captain John Macpherson after the designs of Thomas Nevil in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, Pa. Macpherson, a privateer during the Seven Years’ War, purchased the estate with profits from these operations. Free white and Black laborers, indentured servants, and at least four enslaved people of African descent, whose names are unknown, worked on the plantation. In 1779, General Benedict Arnold purchased Mount Pleasant for his wife Peggy Shippen, but they never occupied the house. In 1792, General Jonathan Williams purchased the mansion. The City of Philadelphia purchased the property from the Williams family in 1869. On behalf of the city, the Philadelphia Museum of Art restored the house in 1926., Titles include Thos. During his early years, he worked as a motion picture operator in his hometown of Clinton, Pa. and later, most likely in the Philadelphia photographic studio of William H. Rau. His early work was displayed and awarded at amateur exhibitions at John Wanamaker’s and the Philadelphia Y.M.C.A. Camera club. He attended Army Schools of Photography at Rochester and Cornell University and served in the Photographic Section of the Air Service during World War I. Draucker was also featured in "Studio Light: A Magazine of Information for the Profession" (1930) and copyrighted a photoflash calculator in 1937. He was married to Lucretia Draucker and passed away in San Diego, Ca. in January 1971.

Draucker (1895-1971), son of Stathia and Edward Draucker, a hotel manager in Clinton, Pennsylvania was a professional photographer who specialized in portraiture in Syracuse, N.Y. by 1921. During his early years, he worked as a motion picture operator in his hometown of Clinton, Pa. and later, most likely in the Philadelphia photographic studio of William H. Rau. His early work was displayed and awarded at amateur exhibitions at John Wanamaker’s and the Philadelphia Y.M.C.A. Camera club. He attended Army Schools of Photography at Rochester and Cornell University and served in the Photographic Section of the Air Service during World War I. Draucker was also featured in "Studio Light: A Magazine of Information for the Profession" (1930) and copyrighted a photoflash calculator in 1937. He was married to Lucretia Draucker and passed away in San Diego, Ca. in January 1971.

Souvenir viewbook, issued during the Centennial Exhibition of 1876, containing fifteen captioned views of prominent sites and landmarks in the city and Centennial Exhibition buildings. Contains views of "Independence Hall" (520 Chestnut Street); "Independence Chamber," i.e., the Assembly Room used as an exhibit gallery; the "Public Buildings," (i.e., City Hall, built 1873-1901); "New Post Office" (South Ninth and Chestnut streets, built 1873-1884); the "Masonic Temple" (1-33 North Broad Street, built 1868-1873); "United States Mint" (1331-1337 Chestnut Street); the 400 block of "Chestnut Street" including the Custom House, the United States Post Office and Courthouse (completed 1863) misidentified as the Public Ledger Building, and Bankers Row; "New Academy of Natural Sciences" (built 1868, 1900 block Race Street); "Academy of Fine Arts" (118-26 North Eighteenth Street, completed 1876); "Horticultural Hall" (built 1867, razed 1881) and "Academy of Music" on the 200 block of South Broad Street; University of Pennsylvania in West Philadelphia; the main hall and statuary at "Girard College"; Fairmount Water Works; Girard Avenue Bridge; Main Building; Machinery Hall; Art Gallery; Agricultural Hall; Horticultural Hall; and Women's Pavilion.
