Satiric carte de visite of a reproduction of a drawing of the New York island fort opposite Fort Hamilton used a a prison during the Civil War. Includes a boat of prisoners being rowed to the facility. The fort, completed circa 1818, was the first Northern location to receive prisoners of war in July 1861.
