The statue, sculpted in wood in 1809 by William Rush for the Centre Square Water Works, was installed at the basin in 1827. It was removed in 1872 when cast in bronze and relocated to the south garden at the waterworks. Also shows the standpipe on Reservoir Hill in the upper left corner of the image.
