- Description
- Billhead and letterhead containing ornate lettering, pictorial and ornamental details, and a vignette view of the building of the firm established in 1847. Views show the three-story building adorned in signage and an American flag and with medicine bottles visible in the display windows. Also shows street and pedestrian traffic, including horse-drawn wagons and an omnibus. Omnibus in letterhead vignette marked 'Horse Head." Details include flowers, filigree, and a mortar and pestle. Gerity brothers, the firm originally operated by William S. Gerity (d. 1912) and Clayton R. Gerity (d.1897), was active until 1910., Title supplied by cataloger., Printers include Calvert Lith. Co. Detroit, Mich. and Milton & Johnson, N.Y., P.2011.46.151 completed in manuscript to J. P. Coles, Orwell, Pa. on January 12, 1889 for several items, including F.E. Ergot, Vaseline, Butter color, Hood's Sarspa. for $18.63. Inscribed in pencil on recto: Recd Pay Gerity Bros, 323.89. Stamped: Positively no allowance will be made unless reported within 5 days after receipt of bill. Inscribed on verso: Gerity Bros, Jan 12/89, Drugs, $18.63. ck #1642, March 23/89., P.2011.46.152 completed in manuscript on June 13, 1892 to Towanda, Pa. druggists Dr. H. C. Porter Son supplying a quote for four items, including "50 cases C.P. Glycemic M and R."
