Advertisement for the iron foundry established at the 100 block of Franklin Street in 1841. Shows an exterior view of the foundry complex adorned with the sign "Sutton & Smith's Iron Foundry." Cylinders, shafts, and wheels lay on the sidewalk in front of the buildings comprising the complex in which laborers work. Smoke rises from smokestacks adorning all the buildings that are adjoined by fencing to courtyards. Workers attend one of two horse-drawn drays on the sidewalk; are visible carrying a pipe in the first-floor entryway of a three-story building; sit and shake hands on a large cylinder; and are visible in other parts of the complex.
