Description: View showing the executive mansion, originally built for President Washington, on Ninth Street below Market Street. Erected between 1792 and 1797 by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the residence (completed after Washington's term in office), never housed a president, and was later purchased by the University of Pennsylvania.
