Exterior view of the Philadelphia Arcade also known as the Philadelphia Museum originally built 1826-1827 as a shop gallery after the designs of John Haviland at 615-619 Chestnut Street. Pedestrians walk in front of and into the museum in which a woman is visible walking down a staircase. Also shows adjacent buildings, an awning post, and street lamp. Museum served as an exhibition gallery including the display of the Philadelphia Museum Company's holdings of artist Charles Willson Peale's collections as well as a concert, public meeting, and lecture space.
