- Contains architectural views of various animal habitats at the Philadelphia Zoo, along with views of visitors watching and feeding the animals. Depicts the entrance to the zoo, flanked by two pavilions built 1875-1876 after designs by Furness & Hewitt; the statue of The Dying Lioness designed 1873-1875 by Wilhelm Franz Alexander Friedrich Wolff near the entrance pavilions; a rustic bridge; a flower garden; the Carnivora House; the Monkey House near the lake; the Beaver dam; the shady walk showing fish pond; swan pond; the bird house; the interior of a flying cage in the bird house; the corner of a polar bear den and the zoo barn. Also includes views of bears, beavers, a dromedary (Arabian camel), sea lions, an elephant bathing, a bison herd, a rhinocerous, a white-tailed gnu (antelope), a hippopotamus, moneys, horses and a chimp. Also includes pedestrians walking and riding in carriages through the zoological garden., Contains 55 postcards printed in color and 13 printed in black and white. - Trade card containing a parental scene using animal figures. Shows a mother and father bunny playing jump rope with their bunny child. The child bunny wears a ribbon around his neck and jumps under the airborne rope. Rabbit tracks are visible on the ground. Also contains several lines of advertising text on the verso. Text promotes the testing of the powder by "over 40,000 cases," its curative powers for any age and for any length of time of the affliction of "spasms," and price per box ($.85 cents or $1). - Description
- Includes cut-out paper doll figure "8" depicting a tiger and separate die cut costume, probably from the Chicago coffee company's "Mr. and Mrs. Whimsical Wild Animal" series. Costume design is a pink, mutton sleeve dress, with gold sash, and gloved hands holding a closed fan. McLaughlin Coffee, established in 1852, introduced lines of promotional paper dolls following the Columbian Exposition of 1893 and their discontinuation of trade cards., Instructions printed on verso of P.2011.10.37: To make figure stand, bend right foot forwar[d] and tail and left foot backward, thus forming as stand., Cataloging funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (PW-506-19-10), 2010-2012., Gift of Helen Beitler and Estate of Helen Beitler.

- Collection of illustrated ephemera, primarily tradecards, envelopes, receipts, letterheads, billheads, and labels, for predominantly Pennsylvania businesses and trades. Some trade cards and labels are embossed, die cut, or metamorphic designs. Businesses and trades include the tobacco, transportation, and rags and paper industry; manufacturers of carriages and wagons, saddlery and harnesses, musical instruments, textiles, and pins; dealers in lumber, furniture, willow ware, clothing, medicines, seeds, spices, and groceries; stationers, printers, and publishers; and a dentist and violin teacher. Also contains rewards of merit; advertising calendars; mid 19th-century miniature illustrated seals containing admonitions; an 1872 American Wood Paper Company pass; an advertising flier for the New Stevens Spring Tooth Harrow plow; tobacco silks containing portraits of prominent Native American chiefs; a reprint of the 1841 "A Plan of the Borough of Harrisburg" designed by John Probst; a wrapper for J. Geo. Hintz, a Reading, Pa. stationer; and menu for the Delavan House hotel under the proprietorship of Charles Leland in Albany, NY. Illustrations depict various subjects. - Description
- Allegorical print containing a portrayal of a male figure aging from a baby to an older man on a pedestal of life. Includes rhymed couplets describing each age below the image corresponding to animal vignettes adorning the pedestal styled as up and down steps. Shows the figure, in the far left, as an infant as a "lamb like innocent" in the lap of his mother, her long dark hair loose down her back, and attired in a red dress; at the age of 10 with dark hair and attired in a blue pant suit and cap and holding a stick and hoop as he "goat like skips and joys"; at the age of 20 attired in a black top hat, black waistcoat, and blue striped pants when "love doth swell his veins and heifer like untamed remains"; at the age of 30 attired in a military uniform "with bull like strength he smites his foes"; at the age of 40 attired in a military uniform holding a sword and flag and "naught his courage quails but lion like by force prevails"; at the age of 50 with greying hair, attired in a black suit and top hat, and his "strength fails but with wit fox like he helps to manage it"; at the age of 60 with long white hair, attired in a black suit and top hat, and holding out a cane while "wolf like he tries his wealth to raise"; at the age of 70 with rounded shoulders and attired in a black long coat and top hat and cane in hand, "he'll hear and tell but dog like loves at home to dwell"; at the age of 80 slightly hunched and reaching out as "a cat keeps house and loves the fire" he has the same desire; at the age of 90, in the far right, severely hunched over and reliant on a cane that he must suffer everywhere as "weak asses backs were made to bare"; and at the age of 100, attired in a white night gown, seated in a chaise lounge, and tended by a young woman, attired in a red dress and holding a cup as "the sick of life the grave he fears.", Image also includes a tree in full leaf (left), a dead withered tree (right), and a vignette scene set in a tree-lined pasture behind a stone wall entitled "Resist the Devil and he will flee from you!" Scene shows bare-chested male figure attired in a loincloth and with their left hand up and right arm out between a couple, in the right, and a table of men drinking, in the left.
