A young girl stands outside the door. Wakefield was built in 1798 for Sarah and Thomas Fisher. It was owned by the Fisher family until 1918, and then razed by fire in 1985. Thomas Rodman Fisher constructed Little Wakefield, located within the Wakefield estate, in 1829. It was expanded in 1844. Owned by the Fisher family until 1946, it then housed the Saint Basil’s Orphanage for the Sisters of Saint Basil the Great.
