Scenic view of the uncovered Market Street Permanent Bridge commissioned by the Schuylkill Bridge Company and completed in 1805 after the designs of engineer Timothy Palmer. Depicts horse-drawn carriages, wagons, and pedestrians traversing the bridge, and ships and barges sailing on the Schuylkill River. In the foreground, a man works on his loaded sailing vessel. Contains inset of "The Bridge as it appears now covered."
