Description: View of the Episcopal church built 1856-1857 at 711-721 Catharine Street. Church property contains side courtyards enclosed by iron gates. Title: [Mount Equity, with carriages in driveway, Pennsdale, Pa.]
Description: Exterior view of Mount Equity and surrounding property, including three carriages on the stone drive near the house. Bertha T. Webster, wife of the photographer's brother Clement, stands on the front lawn of the house, looking at the carriages. Mount Equity was rented by the photographer's aunt, Hannah Mary S. Taylor, during the summer months of 1889 and 1890., A small stone section of Mount Equity, known as "The Cottage," was constructed near the Wolf Run House in Pennsdale, Pa. ca. 1810 by Mercy Ellis after the death of her husband, William Ellis. After her death in 1848, her children used the cottage primarily during the summer months. Her son Charles Ellis built a stone addition to the house in 1861 and a rear kitchen wing was added by the family in 1882. It was around this time that the enlarged house shed its name as "The Cottage," and was known as Mount Equity. The property is now home to a Buddhist Monastery, Mt. Equity Zendo Jihoji., Attributed to John H. Webster but may have been taken by other Webster family members.

Gentlemen mingle on the second-story, arcaded balcony overlooking the street. A large cupola and weathervane surmount the penthouse. Horse-drawn carriages and carts labeled "Exchange Wagon," "Waterman's Hotel," and "Western Exchange," congest the street and transport patrons to and from nearby railroad depots. Description: Advertisement showing the industrial complex for the "Phoenix Coach Works" on the 400 block of Buttonwood Street. Complex includes a four-story main building, adorned with street signs, connected to additions and the "General Coach Furnishing Store." Several smokestacks and a tower decorated with the model of a carriage adorn the roof. Signage reading "Phoenix Coach Works" adorns one of the additions, which contains a rooftop crossover to the main building in addition to an entry, adorned with the figures of lions, to a courtyard. A man drives a horse-drawn carriage through the entryway, as above, carriages are displayed on the crossover. Four unhitched carriages, including an ornately decorated one, line the street in front of the main building as a single-seat carriage and a fancy coach with driver and passenger travel in the street.
