Vignettes, predominately events from the American Revolution, War of 1812, Mexican American and Civil War, include "Drafting the Declaration of Independence - The Committee"; "Reading the Declaration of Independence"; Celebration of the Fourth of July After the [Civil] War"; "Battle at Manmouth"; "Entry into Mexico"; "Battle of Lake Erie"; the raising of the American flag at "Fort Sumter"; "Surrender of Lee"; and Lincoln's celebratory "Entry into Richmond." Many of the images include victorious military leaders in addition to celebratory crowds.
