- Lantern slide showing a stone Mennonite meeting house at 6119 Germantown Avenue standing next to a cemetary surrounded by a metal fence. Trolley tracks run through the center of the street. A tree grows to the left of the meeting house and other buildings are visible in the background. A Mennonite meeting house was originally built on Main Street in 1705. The stone building replaced the wooden structure in 1770. The meeting house had one addition in 1908, and was restored to its colonial appearance in 1952., Signed: Morris. Cracked. - Decoration of Quebec Cathedral. Installation of Cardinal Tascherau
- Description
- Lantern slide showing the interior of the Gothic-style Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Quebec decorated for the Cardinal's installation. The view shows the choir-area richly adorned with statuary, banners, and paintings on the ceiling. Taschereau was conferred on July 21, 1886 as the first Candian Cardinal. The Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Quebec was first constructed in 1647. A fire during the siege of Quebec in 1759 destroyed the building, but it was rebuilt in 1743. Jean Baillairge and his son designed the interior 1786-1822. A second fire in 1922 destroyed the interior again, and the cathedral was restored by Maxime Roisin and Raoul Chenevert. Holy Trinity Church was built 1698-1699.
