Title: The castle of the state in Schuylkill
Description: Exterior view of the clubhouse known as The Castle of the Fishing Company of the State in Schuylkill. Shows men spread out across the grounds, some sitting at a table outside, others walking in the woods near the clubhouse and stables. Two men stand with a dog at the edge of the river, looking toward a man in a rowboat in the foreground. Association formed in 1732 for hunting and fishing, originally on "Eaglesfield" the old estate of William Warner on the western bank of the Schuylkill River. Title: Tamany Fish House, on the Pea Shore, R. Delaware
Description: View showing visitors enjoying the public grounds of the Tamany Pea Shore Fishing Company, a social and sporting club founded by Philadelphia artisans in 1803 on the New Jersey Shore above Camden. People stroll on the veranda of the club house remodeled in 1832 and are visible in the upper-floor windows. The building, reflected in the water, is adorned with a flag and a weather-vane shaped as a fish. The kitchen building stands to the right of the main building. Between the two buildings, two men stand in front of a water pump. Couples stroll and an older man fishes on a wooden pier, to which a rowboat is tied, that stretches from the shore. In the right, a rowboat carrying seven passengers (5 men, 2 women) approaches a boy and a man preparing to fish next to their grounded rowboat on the riverbank. Other guests stroll and greet each other on the shore that is lined with trees.
