The life-size marble statue, instated in 1846, was installed in front of Girard's sarcophagus in the Main Hall (i.e., Founder's Hall) of Girard College around 1851., Title printed on mount., Photographer's blind stamp on mount., Publisher's label pasted on verso., Distributor's label pasted on verso: From James W. Girard ran away from home in France at the age of fourteen, worked his way up to ship captain and landed in the states in 1776.
