View of the cabin used by Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grant on the east side of Carriage Drive in Fairmount Park. Photographer William Doering is seated on a bench in front of the cabin and Al Lindsay stands in the doorway, reading a posted sign. A camera is set up in the foreground. Served as Grant's headquarters and the supply center for the Union armies during the seige of Richmond. Moved to Philadelphia circa 1870 from City Point, Virginia as a gift to citizens of Philadelphia for their support during the Civil War.
