Textile label showing a scene in India. Shows a prince transported by elephant and attended by a guard armed with a sword and on horseback. A driver (mahout) rides on the neck of the elephant that is also guided by another man servant. Also shows a man smoking a hookah, an ox-driven carriage, and majestic, domed buildings. Alfred Reed and Albert Boit established the Oriental Print Works circa 1857 in Apponaug Village in Warwick, Rhode Island. Vignettes and details show the American eagle, shield, and flag; symbols of art and industry, including a paint palette, sculpture, telescope, and smoke stacks and chimneys; allegorical figures representing manufacturing, agriculture, and the seasons; and a central vignette containing a fruit display in front of drapery. Ehrgott & Forbriger, the premier Cincinnati firm established in 1856 by Peter E. Ehrgott and Adolphus F. Fobriger, operated under that firm name until 1860 when changed to Ehrgott, Fobriger & Co., Inscribed lower left corner: 54., Cataloging funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (PW-506-19-10), 2010-2012.

Glass negative showing the gasometer of the Philadelphia Gas Works surrounded by a low fence and seen from across a field. The gasometer consists of ten crenellated columns standing around a circular base and connected by a band decorated with quatrefoil shapes. Philadelphia Gas Works began operating in 1836 when gas lights were installed along Second Street. In the accompaying text, King wrote the following of the two subjects: "The stout negroes working over the boiling salt were both delighted and amazed when their pictures appeared in the artist's [James Wells Champney's] sketch-book; they had never seen 'no such writin' befo'.'"
