Breuker & Kessler, lithographers, South West Corner Seventh & Chestnut Sts "Know all men by these presents: that Breuker & Kessler of Philadelphia, possessing ample facilities are prepared to execute in the finest style of the art, all orders for lithographing, including bonds, certificates of stock and deposit, checks, drafts, notes, letter note and bill headings, bills of exchange, cards, insurance policies, blanks etc. also show cards and labels in colors. Having given special attention to the engraving and printing of bonds and by using a combination of geometrical lathe and rosette designs we are able to produce a class of work so intricate as to prevent counterfeiting, it being impossible to imitate the same with any degree of accuracy. In witness whereof we have caused to be printed this sample in the form of a bond and have hereto attached our signatures, this first day of January, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and seventy four

Advertisement for the lithographic establishment in the form of a $500 bond, with several small illustrations within the security designs. At top, within a scroll flanked by flags and military gear and overtopped by an eagle, a miner with pick and shovel and a farmer with pitchfork illustrate the motto "oro y plata." At left, a figure of liberty personified stands on a globe girdled by the motto "[e plu]ribus unum." At lower right, a reclining figure uses a pair of compasses. Bond Certificate" placed above 16 numbered rectangular "cards" marked "Breuker & Kessler, lithographers, Philadelphia." Verso covered with printed floral decoration. Advertisement showing the busy industrial complex established circa 1819 by Alfred Jenks and enlarged in 1853 on the east side of Richmond Street between Franklin & Locust streets in Bridesburg. A horse-drawn flatbed truck enters the courtyard of the U-shaped complex containing several buildings that are surrounded by wood fencing. Within the yard, clusters of workers transport boxes and planks of wood by hand near an unhitched wagon surrounded by crates. A carriage with driver waits near a smaller building, landscaped with trees and attached to one of the large workshops. Outside the complex, a driver handles a four-horse team plodding to pull a truck loaded with two large machines as other factory workers transport planks, carry crates, mill about with their tools, drive a dray, and stand at a shed facing the street. Also shows two gentlemen talking to a worker in the middle of the roadway, a worker carrying a box near abandoned carts in an adjacent courtyard, and several working smokestacks on the roofs of the works. Six vignettes of different types of textile machinery illustrate the side borders. Racist, satiric trade card promoting Joseph Dixon Crucible Company's stove polish and depicting a caricature of an African American man presenting Dixon’s Stove Polish to the African American men members of the Lime Kiln Club. Shows Brother Gardner, the white-haired, African American man, in the left with spectacles on his forehead and attired in a white collared shirt with a red bowtie, an orange jacket with a sunflower on the lapel, red and white checked pants, and black shoes. He stands holding a blue box of Dixon’s in his left hand and a gavel in his right hand. In the left is a wooden table with a blue pitcher and a top hat on top of it and a sign that reads, “Dixon’s Carburet of Iron Stove Polish.” Brother Gardner addresses the men in the vernacular, who are identified by number with the key of their names on the verso of the card. In the right, the man, attired in a striped white collared shirt, a red tie, a white and blue striped jacket, yellow and red striped pants, and black shoes, sits on a wooden chair and examines a blue box of Dixon’s in his hands.
