The scene is depicted within a lithographed tromp l'oeil wood frame containing an inset of an exterior view of Peck's Works at Dock Street. Delivery wagons and drays traverse the business-lined streets, including one for Peck's driven by an African American man. Pedestrians walk the sidewalks and cross the intersection, and a boy rolls a hoop passed a female peddler sewing by her foodstand. Visible in the background are the busy Walnut Street Ferry wharf and Smith and Windmill Islands in the Delaware River. Louis L. Peck's varnish business operated from around 1848 until 1855.

Description: Fashion advertisement containing two panelled scenes of 17 elegantly attired men, women, and children in a parlor and outdoor, hunting setting. Upper panel shows four men, two women and three boys in a furnished parlor. All of the men are attired in long jackets, vests, cravats and patterned pants. Two hold or wear hats, and two hold canes. To the left, two men stand and converse with two women. The seated lady holds a fan and wears an evening dress, with a low, straight neckline. Her hair is styled in ringlets, and a flower rests behind her ear. The other woman adorns outerwear styled with a high-necked, tight-waisted dress, shawl and plumed bonnet. To the right, two men stand with three boys, who all wear flat caps. The boy on the left is dressed in an Eton suit, while the other two younger boys wear longer tunic suits. Description: Advertisement showing the four-story storefront covered with lettering advertising products at the druggist on the 200 block of North Third Street. A male patron exits one of three open entryways to the store. Another patron is visible inside. Title: Northern Liberties' Sugar Refinery
Description: Advertisement showing the three-story office building with an addition and attached to the nine-story "Sugar Refinery" (rear) at the southwest corner of Willow Street and Old York Road, i.e., York Avenue. Signage reading "Rock Candy Manufactory. Isaac Koon's Sugar Refinery" adorns the office in which a stout clerk stands in the doorway. A horse-drawn dray loaded with goods (some labeled K) rests in the street and the drayman walks toward the clerk. A barrel stands next to the side of the office across from a laborer. He walks from an open entryway to the refinery marked "No Admittance." Barrels are visible inside and more barrels in addition to crates are piled in front of the refinery from which smoke spews from the stacks. Description: Advertisement showing the three-and-one-half story building with several windows that is adorned with signage and advertising text for the druggists on the 200 block of Callowhill Street. Description: Advertisement for the Philadelphia perfumer at 120, i.e., 324 Chestnut Street. Shows two well-dressed women in a boudoir that is decorated with carpet, drapes, and a candlelabra. One woman combs her long, lush, flowing hair with her back to a nightstand with a mirror as she looks at the second woman with short wispy hair. Perfume bottles rest on the night stand. Also contains an ornamental border including columns and advertising text. Text promotes the stopping of "decay in the middle of decline, to preserve what is beautiful" through use of Haul's "Hair Restorative" that "stops the falling off of Hair, promotes the growth of it, vivifies the roots and the skin and gives a new vigor to hair."
