- Advertisement after a circa 1858 oil painting "Magarge Paper Mill" by William E. Winner showing the expanded paper mill originally built for William Dewees in 1731 at the foot of Wise's Mill Road on the bucolic Wissahickon Creek. Mill includes the main building, boiler house, machine room, and chimney. Mill was rented by Charles Magarge (President of Bank of Germantown) in 1844 and purchased by him in 1853 and thereafter expanded to house a Fourdrinier Paper machine. It was the first mill to use wood pulp to make paper. - Exterior view of the woolen mills at Gulf Creek and the Schuylkill River in Conshohocken. Complex includes a main mill; engine house; boiler and dry house; dye house; scouring house; wool house; ware house; steaming houses; storehouse; mill; shoddy mill; engine house; boiler house; carpenter shop; lumber shed; office; gas house; gas holder; and coal and waste house. A flag adorns the property and stacks spew smoke. A fence surrounds the complex outside of which a man on horseback converses with two gentlemen, two ladies stroll, and a horse-drawn wagon is stopped. In the background, a farm and pastureland and neighboring mansion house are visible. The mill built in 1854, was purchased by wool manufacturer Benjamin Bullock in the 1860s, and in 1871 his sons George and James Bullock assumed operations. - Billhead for R. Garsed & Brother containing a view of the firm's textile mills built 1853 on the northwest corner of Ashland Street along Frankford Creek in Frankford. The mills include a small office building adjacent to a long single-story building with three portico entrances, a smokestack, and cupola adorned with a weather vane. The main building housed the spinning, carding, warping, and spreading rooms. Women stand in two of the portico entries, individuals walk on the grounds, and a “Wingohocking” horse-drawn wagon travels past the mill. In the foreground, by the creek, a horse and colt stand near a canoe marked "Wingohocking Mills" moored at the bank. Across from the animals, a Native American stands with his canoe moored behind him. - Aerial views of the site of the murders of Eleanor Reinhardt Mills, the wife of a New Brunswick janitor, and Edward Wheeler Hall, a New Brunswick Episcopal priest, known as the Halls-Mills murders. The bodies were found at this site in Somerville near New Brunswick, New Jersey on September 16, 1922. The trial began in Somerville in November, 1926, and lasted 30 days.
