Factory employees work in front of and at the wharf of the industrial building that is covered with signage. Men lift a barrel with a hoist; guide horse-drawn drays into a courtyard, down an alley, and to be unloaded; move planks of wood; and spray a hose into the river. Also shows partial views of surrounding buildings. Tatham & Brothers, a firm established in New York in 1838, operated the Philadelphia branch from the address until circa 1867.
