Watercolor depicting the Robeson House, also known as Shoomac Park, built ca. 1759 at Ridge Ave. and Wissahickon Drive, Philadelphia, PA. Shows the two-and-a-half story house with a gabled roof and chimneys. A white fence lines the road in front of the property. Pedestrians and horse-drawn carts, carriages, and covered wagons travel along the road. A train crosses the Philadelphia & Reading Railroad bridge in the background. Andrew Robeson purchased Shoomac Park in 1690 and operated a flour mill on the land. Rudiman Robeson likely built the house. Peter and Jonathan Robeson bought the park and mill in 1789. The Fairmount Park Commission purchased Shoomac Park in 1872 and demolished the house in 1961.
