Trade card issued during the Columbian Exposition of 1893 advertising Enterprise Mf'g Co. of Pa. "Barrel Jack, Truck and Stand." Contains a scene showing the interior of a tavern in which the bar keep and customers raise pints of cider as a man delivers a barrel of it on an Enterprise barrel jack, truck and stand (i.e., dollie). A "Tippecanoe & Tyler Too" banner is displayed and bottles of liquor line the wall behind the bar. Another patron kneels in front of the bar and funnels cider from a barrel tipped on its side on a second dollie. Also contains a view of the Transportation Building designed by Adler & Sullivan. The exposition held in Chicago May 1-October 30, 1898 celebrated the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's arrival in the New World in 1492. Titles include Main Exhibition Building; Art Gallery; Agricultural Building; Horticultural Building; Machinery Building; Washington's Retreat near Philadelphia/Carpenter's Hall Philadelphia; Declaration of Independence, July 4th 1776; Independence Hall, Philadelphia 1776; Independence Hall, Philadelphia 1876; Old State House, Boston; Faneuil Hall, Boston; and The Capitol at Washington. Views also show street and pedestrian traffic. Majority of the Centennial buildings were built after the designs of Herman Schwartzmann, Henry Pettit and Joseph M. Wilson. The Centennial Exhibition celebrated the centennial of the United States through an international exhibition of industry, agriculture, and art., Blue paper binding, stamped with border design and containing gold seals replicating the Centennial medal on recto. Collection of graphic materials documenting world's fairs of the latter 19th and early 20th centuries, predominantly the Centennial Exhibition of 1876 (Philadelphia) and Exposition Universelle de 1867 à Paris. Includes stereographs, trade cards, collecting cards, lantern slides, and souvenirs. Graphics also depict the Great Exhibition of 1851; New York Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations (1853-1854); the Exposition Universelle de 1867 a Paris; the Paris Universal Exposition of 1878; the Chicago World's Fair of 1893; the Pan American Exposition of 1901 (Buffalo, N.Y.); the Louisiana Purchase Exposition of 1904 (St. Louis, Mo.); and the Sesqui-Centennial International Exposition of 1926 (Philadelphia). Views show panoramas of the exhibition grounds and exteriors and interiors of exhibition buildings, including displays showing the wares and products of specific companies and countries, particularly porcelain and terra cotta; art, predominantly sculpture; and dioramas representing the social life and customs of different nations (Morocco, Japan, Sweden, and South America).
