One of the prints also contains two "reduced copies of our beautiful large Chromo lithographs Show cards in six colors, handsomely framed in walnut and gilt, given away with the first order of the goods represented." The views show horses, cows, sheep, and pigs gathered in landscape settings near a railroad bridge and farm, and mountains and a lake. Advertisement showing the ornately decorated storefront of William H. Horstmann & Sons clothing and military supply store. Patriotic bunting consisting of the names of artists J.H. Otten, carver and J. Gibson, pinxt, and a shield sumounted by an eagle, flags, swords and spears surround a sign that reads, "E Pluribus Unum, Horstmann," above the first level. Drums, military helmets, flags, and swords flank this central display. Laurel wreaths hang above the fasces that form columns on each side of the shop's two doorways and two bay windows. Tassels are visible in the left bay window, while various types of military hemlets are displayed in rows in the right window. Shields and crossed arrows adorn the transom lights above the windows and doors. Wm. H. Collection includes letterheads and billheads, majority illustrated, dated between June 13, 1873 and September 30, 1886. Illustrations depict three variant exterior views of the firm's storefront on College Street in the 1870s and 1880s. Earlier views also show signage adorning the side of the building and street traffic, including a man pulling a handcart, and horse-drawn carriages and wagons. Later view captioned "125 to 133 College St., Burlington, Vt." shows the two buildings of the firm in front of which pedestrians walk and several horse-drawn wagon and carriages travel in the street. The prints also contain ornamented type and lettering and pictorial details. View looking northwest at the front facade of the hall built 1853-1855 after the designs of Sloan & Stewart. View also shows adjacent businesses with bare awnings, including the Washington House hotel (709-711 Chestnut), and other commercial store fronts west of the hall. Flags fly from 712 Chestnut in the foreground, one reads "one dollar, 712" A horse-drawn cart travels east on Chestnut Street in the distance. Building sold circa 1873 following the completion of the new Masonic Temple on North Broad Street., Title from photographer's manuscript note on label pasted on verso., Photographer's imprint from label pasted on verso., Orange mount with rounded corners., Cataloging funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (PW-506-19-10), 2010-2012., Bell began his photographic career in 1848 working for his brother-in-law's daguerreotype studio in Philadelphia and thereafter was associated with many commercial studios as partner or sole proprietor. He served as the chief photographer for the U.S. Army Medical Museum in 1865 and replaced Timothy O'Sullivan on George M. Wheeler's survey of the territories west of the 100th meridian in 1872. He returned to Philadelphia, went into business with his future son-in-law William Rau in 1875, and was active in the photography community until his death in 1910.

Glass negative showing a view of a three-story storefront owned by Charles L. Eberle at 4779 Main Street as seen from the Deshler-Morris House porch. The building is located on the corner of Main Street and Church Lane and has two floors above the shop on the first floor. Signage is visible on the side and partially on the front of the building and reads "C.L. Eberle." A canvas sign hangs across the sidewalk and reads "Miss Kate Cotton Millinery." A man stands on the sidewalk in front of the store next to a tall tree growing in a planter on the sidewalk. Eberle purchased this drug store from Abraham Rex in 1859. Billhead of the Philadelphia druggist containing an exterior view of the four-story storefront, heavily adorned in signage, at the southeast corner of Market and Fifteenth Streets. Pedestrians walk on the sidewalk and a horse-drawn omnibus passes in the street. Print also contains two frame-shaped pictorial details. One surrounds a list of products, including white lead, window glass, sal soda, calcined plaster, and "pure wines & liquors for medicinal purposes" and the other, the text "E. C. Jones, Vermin Exterminator Has No Equal." Edward C. Jones & Co. was originally established as a firm by Amos Yarnell for whom Jones served as an apprentice 1860-1864. Jones became Yarnell's partner in the later 1860s and succeeded to the head of the firm in 1877. Jones retired by the early 1890s and W.H. Earl & Co. assumed the operations of the business until 1895 when taken over by A. Eugene De Reeves., Completed in manuscript to Joseph P.
