The theater, originally built as a circus in 1809, was altered to a theater in 1816, and remodeled from 1827-1828 after the designs of Philadelphia architect John Haviland. Other renovations were completed in 1852 by Hoxie & Button, in 1903 by Willis Gaylord Hale and in 1904 by Rush Anderson Plowman. Also shows adjacent buildings and a United Cigar Stores Co. shop in the foreground, the only portion of the theatre building not undergoing construction. - Glass negative showing a view of the National Bank at 5504 Germantown Avenue, a two-story stone building with an elaborate cornice and decorative iron bars over the windows designed by James Charles Sidney (1819-1881). Trolley tracks run down the center of the brick road. A telephone pole stands in front of the bank and a lamp post stands on the corner to the left. Other buildings line the road to the right. The National Bank of Germantown was chartered by the state of Pennsylvania in 1813 and began operations in 1814 in the parlor of the house of Dr. Charles Bensell. The bank built a new building on this site in 1868. Like his brothers, Benjamin and Edward, Richard served as a topographical draftsman on expeditions to the western United States. He was killed by Native Americans in Utah.

- Glass negative showing Bruner and George Livery, a two-story stone building at 5434 Germantown Avenue. An alleyway runs down the left side of the building. The building has two chimneys, shuttered windows, a wooden fence extending from the right side, and a sign reading, "Bruner and George Livery 4774, Branch of Stables [4934?] Office Door Back." Other similar buildings continue to line the street in the distance. Bruner and George were a livery and boarding stables in Germantown, Philadelphia owned by Henry B. Bruner and Riter W. George. The business existed from circa 1858 to circa 1918. This property at 5434 Germantown Avenue was owned by William Ashmead, a wagon manufacturer, after the American Revolution.
