- Series of illustrated trade cards for F.T. Howell & Co.'s paper hanging establishment at 1216 Chestnut Street and later Thirteenth and Chestnut Streets in Philadelphia. Illustrations depict Asian symbols, including fans, a paddle fan, bamboo, pottery, and cranes (one with a frog caught in its beak) and a witch with a broom in front of a full moon, witches flying on brooms in the distant background, snakes, rodents, an owl, and a castle atop a steep cliff. - Wall calendar with tear sheets. Mount contains a vignette showing the Carey Bro. & Grevemeyer wallpaper "Factory, 2228 to 2234 North 10th Street." View also shows street traffic, including horse-drawn carts and a locomotive. R. Davis and Theodore Carey and W.H. Grevemeyer partnered circa 1883 with a retail store on Market Street and a wall paper manufactory at North Tenth Street. The firm succeeded Hollowbrush & Carey, booksellers, stationers, and blank book manufacturers., Advertising text printed in borders: Orders by Mail promptly attended to. Caldwell & Co., jewelers, and J.F. and E.B. Orne, carpets. Also includes: E. Clinton & Co., brush manufacturer (908 Chestnut) and F. Augustus Wenderoth, William C. Taylor, and J. Henry Brown, photographers (912 & 914 Chestnut). Signage adorns many of the buildings promoting merchandise, including pianos, ladies dresses, and fancy goods. Beebe & Co., Hats, Caps, Furs and Umbrellas (138); and Crittenden’s Commercial Institute (later Crittenden's Philadelphia Commercial College), M. A. Root’s Daguerreotypes Rooms, jeweler James E.
