Description: Includes three letterheads and one billhead. Letterheads illustrated with ornamental and pictorial details, the trademark of the firm, and a vignette exterior view of the manufactory. Details include banners, sprigs of flowers, clouds, and art nouveau iconography. Trademark depicted as a mortar and pestle marked with the monogram WAS and "Semper Idem." Exterior view shows the multi-story, block long factory building in front of which cars and a train travels. Description: Collection of letterheads and a billhead from the late 19th century containing decorative and ornate lettering, ornamented type, pictorial details, and a vignette illustration. Details depict art nouveau, bird, and floral imagery, heraldry, banners, and filigree and flourishes. Illustration depicts a mortar and pestle. Firms represented include Davis, the Pure Drug Druggist, established 1894 (Concord, N. H.); B.E. Voelcker & Co. (Dayton, Ia.); J.T. Brown & Co., established 1831 (Boston, Ma.); and Charles E. Lloyd (Albany, N.Y.). Voelcker print, a specimen, also contains the text "No. 2137-Statement-1000 $2.75. 500 $1.75. Title: The girl graduate: her own book
Description: Memory book compiled by Philadelphia High School for Girls student Mildred Davis Zaiser (later Cope) containing snapshot portraits with signatures and addresses of her classmates, including three African American students; prose and essays by her fellow students about their school experiences, teachers and classes; transcriptions of the class yell, motto, and commencement address; and class autographs and lists of class officers. Also contains an inserted snapshot photograph depicting four young well-dressed women in “Washington DC 5/9/14” (p. 31); snapshot photograph depicting history instructor “Miss Isabel W. Franklin” (p. 57); professional group portrait photograph showing the student members of “The Captain Ball Team of A prime 8” (a few of the girls hold a stuffed cat, a ball, and the school banners); anecdotal entries titled “Class Prophecy, And how it comes out” and “Class History”; tongue-in-cheek “Last Will and Testament” essay of student bequests to school instructors and departments; and a copy of the commencement announcement. “Miscellaneous” section contains several essays colloquially describing classes and written and signed by Zaiser’s fellow students, including ‘Physics Hour” written by Lucy Seiber (p. 169-171); “Mathematics Hour” written by Emily M. She still lived with her parents in 1920 when she worked as a clerk for the Board of Education. By 1930 she had married William Cope and lived in Norwalk, Connecticut., Louise Perrett (b. 1878) was an illustrator who studied under Howard Pyle. She was also an instructor at the Art Institute of Chicago circa 1920s. She partnered with Sarah K. Smith on several memory albums first published by Reilly and Britton Co. in the early 1900s. By 1940 she was an art teacher at the Elizabeth Peabody House in Boston.

Description: Collection of billheads, dated between 1880 and 1898, containing decorative and ornate lettering, ornamented type, vignette illustrations, and pictorial details. Illustrations depict exteriors of storefronts and factories (some adorned in signage); pharmaceutical apparatus and goods, including "patent shaving mug," mortar and pestles, scales, and rates, barrels, and jugs of medicinals; and scenes of a harbor view, a druggist in his pharmacy, and a blacksmith at work on his anvil. Some of the exterior views include patrons entering buildings, street and pedestrian traffic, as well as laborers at work.
