The school’s buildings at the northwest corner of Twentieth and Race streets provided classrooms, workshops, and living space for its blind and visually impaired students, The curriculum included elementary through high school courses of study, practical handiwork, and music. In 1869, around the time of this photograph, the school erected a store to sell the students’ wares, such as brushes, brooms, chairs, and needlework., Digitization funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (PW-506-19-10), 2010-2012.
