The new steamer Wawaset leaves the first wharf below Arch Street every morning, (Sundays excepted,) at 7 o'clock, for Bombay Hook & intermediate places on the river & bay. Returning--leaves the landing at 1 o'clock, reaching the city about dusk. A beautiful ride is here offered at a reasonable price. The boat passes quite near to Fort Delaware, giving a fine view of this famous fortification and the surrounding barracks, which now contain no less than 13,000 Rebel prisoners. Good meals provided on the boat!

- Scenic view of the uncovered Market Street Permanent Bridge commissioned by the Schuylkill Bridge Company and completed in 1805 after the designs of engineer Timothy Palmer. Depicts horse-drawn carriages, wagons, and pedestrians traversing the bridge, and ships and barges sailing on the Schuylkill River. In the foreground, a man works on his loaded sailing vessel. Contains inset of "The Bridge as it appears now covered." - View looking toward the water works originally built between 1812 and 1822 after the designs of Philadelphia engineer Frederick Graff. In the foreground, elegantly dressed women and men sit and stand on the veranda admiring the vista as street and pedestrian traffic approaches and departs from the covered Upper Ferry Bridge. Traffic includes horse-drawn carriages and men, women and children walking or standing on the bridge, looking over the rail at the Schuylkill River below. Canal barges travel under the bridge and in the canal lock across from the water works. The water works include the engine house, mill house, and pavilions on the mound dam and on reservoir hill. A water fountain and trees complete the view. Also shows businesses and residences behind the water works in the background. The Lancaster-Schuylkill Bridge, known as the Upper Ferry Bridge, was erected 1809-1812, with Robert Mills serving as architect and Lewis Wernwag as engineer. - Film negative showing a view of a large steamship sailing away across the Delaware River. The ship has four masts and two smokestacks expelling smoke. The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) is a Quaker organization originally founded in 1917 to allow conscientious objectors to serve during World War I. Their activities included driving ambulances, working in hospitals, and assisting communities. AFSC continued to serve as a peace orgzanication abroad and in America through the 21st century. Marriott C. - Description
- View looking toward the water works originally built between 1812 and 1822 after the designs of Philadelphia engineer Frederick Graff. In the foreground, elegantly dressed women and men, sit, and stand on the veranda admiring the vista as street and pedestrian traffic approaches and departs from the covered Upper Ferry Bridge. Traffic includes horse-drawn carriages, a man on horseback, and a woman walking and holding a parasol. Canal barges travel under the bridge and in the canal lock across from the water works. The water works include the engine house, mill house, and pavilions on the mound dam and on reservoir hill. A water fountain and trees complete the view. Also shows businesses and residences behind the water works in the background. The Lancaster-Schuylkill Bridge, known as the Upper Ferry Bridge, was erected 1809-1812, with Robert Mills serving as architect and Lewis Wernwag as engineer. - Lithograph showing mules walking on towpaths pulling canal boats in the Schuylkill River in the foreground. Also shows distant views of West Fairmount Park properties, including Belmont Mansion, the estate house and country seat of Judge Richard Peters; the smokestack of the Belmont Waterworks engine house, designed by Frederick Graff in the late 1860s; and Mount Pleasant Mansion (i.e. Arnold Mansion) built after designs by Thomas Nevil 1761-1765 for Captain John Macpherson. Includes a locomotive traveling north on the west bank of the river in the right background. Macpherson, a privateer during the Seven Years’ War, purchased the estate with profits from these operations. Free white and Black laborers, indentured servants, and at least four enslaved people of African descent, whose names are unknown, worked on the plantation. In 1779, General Benedict Arnold purchased Mount Pleasant for his wife Peggy Shippen, but they never occupied the house. In 1792, General Jonathan Williams purchased the mansion. The City of Philadelphia purchased the property from the Williams family in 1869.
