Title: The castle of the state in Schuylkill
Description: Exterior view of the clubhouse known as The Castle of the Fishing Company of the State in Schuylkill. Shows men spread out across the grounds, some sitting at a table outside, others walking in the woods near the clubhouse and stables. Two men stand with a dog at the edge of the river, looking toward a man in a rowboat in the foreground. Association formed in 1732 for hunting and fishing, originally on "Eaglesfield" the old estate of William Warner on the western bank of the Schuylkill River. Description: Shows hundreds of members, their faces copied from photographs, of the German-American shooting club posed on the grounds of the club park, Schützen Park, east of Indian Queen Lane in East Falls. The massive crowd of prominent men, many holding rifles, sits, stands, reclines on rocks, lift their hat in celebration, greet one another, and attend to their hunting dogs. At the center of the group, a man wears a sash and holds the banner of the club. Five different types of hunting dogs are depicted in the foreground. Also shows the banquet hall and members taking target practice in the background. Title: Tamany Fish House, on the Pea Shore, R. Delaware
Description: View showing visitors enjoying the public grounds of the Tamany Pea Shore Fishing Company, a social and sporting club founded by Philadelphia artisans in 1803 on the New Jersey Shore above Camden. People stroll on the veranda of the club house remodeled in 1832 and are visible in the upper-floor windows. The building, reflected in the water, is adorned with a flag and a weather-vane shaped as a fish. The kitchen building stands to the right of the main building. Between the two buildings, two men stand in front of a water pump. Couples stroll and an older man fishes on a wooden pier, to which a rowboat is tied, that stretches from the shore. In the right, a rowboat carrying seven passengers (5 men, 2 women) approaches a boy and a man preparing to fish next to their grounded rowboat on the riverbank. Other guests stroll and greet each other on the shore that is lined with trees. Title: [The Seaman's Home, northwest corner of 2nd and Queen Streets, Philadelphia]

Designed by architect Frank Furness, the Seaman's Home was built in 1878 at the northwest corner of Front and Queen Streets. Building began as a church for seamen and became a boys' club in the 1920s. It is also known by the names Church of the Redeemer for Seamen and their Families, Neighborhood Boy's Club, and Church of the Redeemer. Title: Wakefield – The “Hunt,"
Description: Montage of five scenes from a "Hound and Hare Club of Germantown" meet at Wakefield Meadow, part of the estate of Thomas and Sarah Fisher near Germantown. Large central scene shows elegantly attired men, women, and children, a few astride horses, milling on the grounds near the old residence, pond and creek. Surrounding scenes show horsemen galloping on the grounds, over fences, and in front of distant crowds of on-lookers standing in front of the dwelling. Dwelling built circa 1795. The meet involved horsemen acting as "hounds" and "hares" through horns and pieces of paper. The riders were tracked by their fellow mounted clubmen. Title: [Procession of Poor Richard Club members down Locust Street, Philadelphia]
Description: Procession of the advertising and publishing club established in 1906 in honor of Benjamin Franklin past the Poor Richard Club and the nightclub, "Club Madrid," on the 1300 block of Locust Street. Depicts the members being led by a Franklin impersonator and a man, wearing makeup and a curly, white wig and attired in an embellished long-sleeved shirt with a cap, shorts, and white stockings, on horseback. They are followed by costumed and uncostumed members. All the costumed "young Franklins," except for a few who hold flags and a club banner, carry loaves of bread simulating Franklin's arrival to Philadelphia. Spectators watch from the sidewalk and the street, including an African American chauffeur leaning on a parked car. Description: Three volumes of The standard diary (Philadelphia, 1890-1892), belonging to Sarah Sanders Venning Holden, each stamped in gold on front cover: The Real Estate Trust Co. 1340 Chestnut St. Philadelphia. Sallie Venning composed brief daily entries, noting her activities, social engagements, visitors, vacations, and substitute-teaching assignments. There are accounts, and names and addresses at the end of each volume., Sarah Sanders Venning, known as Sallie, was born in Philadelphia Aug. 12, 1872, daughter of Julia and Edward Y. Venning. She was a substitute teacher. She married William B. Holden in 1903 and was widowed in 1928. She was active in St. Thomas African Episcopal Church and in various women's clubs. She died in 1959.
