Aerial views of the Norristown State Hospital campus and surrounding farmlands. Opened in 1880 as Pennsylvania's first state inpatient psychiatric facility. Buildings were constructed in the "cottage" model, with separate structures above ground that were interconnected by a series of tunnels underground.
