- Billheads containing decorative lettering, cloud imagery, and a pictorial detail. Pictorial detail composed of a sheet of paper and text reading "Sole Agent for Ed. Loeflund & Co's Extract of Malt & Combinations. Liebig's Soluble Food. Pure Sterilized & Condensed Alpine milk Unsweetened Peptonized Kindermilch. Deutsche Gelatine Fabriken (German Gelatine Works)." Max Zeller's uncle Julius Zeller established the firm in 1856 at 51 Division Street. He removed the firm, the top U.S. importer of foreign herbs and roots, to 37 Bowery in 1885 and Max succeeded him in 1889. Max Zeller retired in 1901 and the firm was purchased by Britt, Loeffler & Weil (former employees of Julius) who relocated the business to 255 Canal Street., P.2011.46.268 completed in manuscript to Dr. H. C. Porter & Son, Towanda, Pa. on August 19, 1892 for several items, including soap bark crushed, peppermint, cuticura plaster, and Kennedy's Prairie Weed for $57.88. Also contains manuscript notes in pencil on recto related to price changes and payments received., P.2011.46.269 completed in manuscript to druggist H.A. Kerste, Schnectady on October 10, 1894 for talcum powder for $1.40., Henry A. Kerste, a Schenectady druggist established his own business when he purchased the E.L. Davis Pharmacy in 1889. - Includes three letterheads and one billhead. Letterheads illustrated with ornamental and pictorial details, the trademark of the firm, and a vignette exterior view of the manufactory. Details include banners, sprigs of flowers, clouds, and art nouveau iconography. Trademark depicted as a mortar and pestle marked with the monogram WAS and "Semper Idem." Exterior view shows the multi-story, block long factory building in front of which cars and a train travels. Two of the prints also contain an ornament comprised of a frame resembling a belt surrounding the monogram SDC and marked "Established 1853.", Title supplied by cataloger., Printers include Corlies, Macy, & Co.
