Description: View showing the four-story marble building for the benevolent and charitable organization built 1845-1846 after the designs of William L. Johnston at Sixth Street below Race Street. A young man sits and gestures near the entranceway of the hall. A number of pedestrians walk and stand on the sidewalk surrounding the building. Foot traffic includes a boy rolling a hoop, a little girl with a parasol, an older gentleman conversing with a Quaker, and a boy in a military uniform providing directions. Description: View of building on northwest corner from southeast corner of intersection at 3rd and Brown Streets. International Order of Odd Fellows Hall was built in 1846 in the Egyptian Revival style, possibly designed by architect John Haviland, and burned in 1976., Photographer's manuscript note on verso: Strange building at 3rd and Brown Sts. Note long window frames. Egyptian effects, wing under fire escape, third floor front etc. For many years occupied as a dance hall. Now devoted to offices and the storage of furniture. Description: Exterior view of the "Broadway Hall" for the benevolent and charitable organization, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, built in 1851 after the designs of Hoxie & Button. View includes large pieces of pipe in the foreground and a partial view of a factory in the background. Poulson in the late 1850s entitled "Illustrations of Philadelphia" volume 5, page 49. The scrapbooks contained photographs of 18th-century public, commercial, and residential buildings in the city of Philadelphia collected by Poulson to document the vanishing architectural landscape., McClees, an early prominent Philadelphia photographer and daguerreotypist, produced some of the earliest paper photographic views of Philadelphia between 1853 and 1859.

Title: Decatur Fire Company of Frankford
Description: Fire company certificate containing vignettes depicting fire fighters rushing a steam engine marked with the company motto down a city street past the Odd Fellows Hall, Frankford; a steam engine parked at the company fire station on Church Street; and fire fighters surrounded by spectators battling a fire of the Frogmore Mills cotton factory, Frankford. Fire fighting equipment including a fire hose, a ladder, an axe, a trumpet and other tools are drawn bundled together to form decorative elements on both sides. A small oval portrait of Commodore Stephen Decatur in a laurel wreath frame above intertwined American flags and the company motto "Ever Prompt to a Call" adorns the top. Also contains eagles, the company number "21," and the institution and incorporation dates (1803 and 1842, respectively). Company named after the Naval hero Decatur whose father purportedly resided in Frankford., Not in Wainwright., Philadelphia on Stone, POS 177, Historical Society of Pennsylvania: Certificates - Fire Companies - Decatur, Duval and Hunter was a partnership between Stephen Orr Duval (P.S. Duval’s son) and Thomas Hunter that lasted from P.S. Duval’s retirement in 1869 until 1874.

Title: Odd Fellows' Broadway Hall. Broad & Spring Garden Streets, Philadelphia
Description: View looking east down Spring Garden Street from Broad Street showing the Odd Fellows Hall at the northeast corner of Spring Garden and Broad streets (400 block N. Broad). A horse-drawn carriage is parked and another passes in front of the hall enlarged in 1853 after the designs of Samuel Sloan for the benevolent and charitable organization, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. The roof of the building is adorned with statues representing Charity and Hope, tenets of the organization and red drapes are visible in the second floor windows. The busy street also includes a couple with their son walking their dog; a gentleman and woman on horseback; a hurried surrey; an omnibus pulled by a horse-team dressed in regalia traveling in front of the Spring Garden Institute (northwest corner Spring Garden and Broad); and men talking near the fountain completed in 1853 in the center of the block of Spring Garden.
