Description: Depicts the “Electricity Building” from the Pan-American Expo that was in Buffalo, NY in 1901. Green and Wicks of Buffalo were the architects of the building. It was used for exhibits in electrical science and manufactures of electrical apparatus. Description: Trade card issued during the world's fair held in Buffalo, N.Y., May 1-November 2, 1901. Depicts a rosey-cheeked boy attired in a sailor suit holding different varieties of boxes of Heide's candies. He stands in front of an open crate of the confections. Henry Heide founded the Heide Candy Company in 1869, which was later purchased by the Hershey Foods Corporation in 1995 and Farley's & Sathers Candy Co. in 2002., Barely legible facsimile of Sarah Berhnardt testimonial dated 1901 printed on verso. Also contains partially legible trademark for "Hotel Savoy, Fifth Avenue and Fifty Ninth Street, New York.", Cataloging funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (PW-506-19-10), 2010-2012., Gift of Michael Zinman.

Title: Ethnology Building
Description: Trade card issued for the world's fair held in Buffalo, N.Y., May 1-November 2, 1901 depicting the Ethnology Building built after the designs of George Cary. Shows fair visitors entering the classical-style building adorned with Renaissance decorative treatment, which housed ethnographic and archaeological exhibits of the Niagara area. Lewis Gibb and John Bucher formed Bucher & Gibbs in 1870., Copyrighted by the Pan-American Exposition Co., Illustrated advertisement for "The Butcher & Gibbs Plow Co., Canton, Ohio. U.S.A." printed on verso. Illustration depicts a scene between a Butcher & Gibbs agent, with a plow, and a farmer declaring "The Imperial is the Best Plow in the World" surrounded by vignettes depicting a disc harrow, spring tooth harrow, spike tooth harrow, and one horse cultivator., Cataloging funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (PW-506-19-10), 2010-2012., Gift of Michael Zinman.

Description: Collection of graphic materials documenting world's fairs of the latter 19th and early 20th centuries, predominantly the Centennial Exhibition of 1876 (Philadelphia) and Exposition Universelle de 1867 à Paris. Includes stereographs, trade cards, collecting cards, lantern slides, and souvenirs. Graphics also depict the Great Exhibition of 1851; New York Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations (1853-1854); the Exposition Universelle de 1867 a Paris; the Paris Universal Exposition of 1878; the Chicago World's Fair of 1893; the Pan American Exposition of 1901 (Buffalo, N.Y.); the Louisiana Purchase Exposition of 1904 (St. Louis, Mo.); and the Sesqui-Centennial International Exposition of 1926 (Philadelphia). Views show panoramas of the exhibition grounds and exteriors and interiors of exhibition buildings, including displays showing the wares and products of specific companies and countries, particularly porcelain and terra cotta; art, predominantly sculpture; and dioramas representing the social life and customs of different nations (Morocco, Japan, Sweden, and South America). Several trade cards issued during the Chicago World's Fair advertising the Enterprise Manufacturing Company of Penn'a. also contain anecdotal, caricatured scenes portraying prominent historical figures, including Abraham Lincoln, Horace Greeley, and Benjamin Franklin.
