Title: The abolition Garrison in danger & the narrow escape of the Scotch Ambassador
Description: Anti-abolition print celebrating the 1835 attack on William Lloyd Garrison in Boston by "gentleman of property and standing" preceding his scheduled speaking engagement before the Boston Female Anti-Slavery Society. Depicts Garrison at the center of an angry mob of white men. He has a noose around his neck and his newspaper "The Liberator" in his pocket and yells, "Help Children of Africer - help brothers." Scottish abolitionist George Thompson, who was rumored to be the Society's speaker, flees the scene attired in a women's clothes. He states with a Scottish burr that he will not be a "Martyr in sie black cause."
