- Glass negative showing Kimberton School, a series of three-story buildings located on a street corner. The building on the right has a lantern spire on the roof and the center building has multiple chimneys. A stone wall and wooden fence separate the buildings from the road. Emmor Kimber (1775-1850), a Quaker educator, established Kimberton Boarding School, originally the French Creek Boarding School for Girls, in 1817. The name changed in 1820. It specialized in training girls to become teachers and operated with an honor code instead of a penal system.
