Description: Album of photographs, predominately half stereographs, of landscape views of Philadelphia and Bucks County. Images include views of Frankford Creek, Tohickon Creek, Wissahickon Creek, Tacony Creek, Pleasantville, Crescentville, Germantown, Fairmount Park near the water works, and winter scenery. Also contains photographs of Stenton, Woodlands Cemetery, the Desilverwood Estate (Holmesburg), the Burd family monuments at St. Stephen's Church (Philadelphia), the city garden of Joseph R. Title: Facsimile of the Emancipation Proclamation
Description: Photographic reproduction of a lithographic facsimile of the original draft of the proclamation printed and sold as a fundraiser for the Soldiers Home of Chicago. Facsimile includes a portrait of Lincoln and patriotic vignette. Lincoln gave the draft to the organizers of the 1863 Northwestern Sanitary Fair to be sold at auction and then donated to the Chicago Historical Society. Draft was bought by Thomas B. Description: Stereograph, possibly published in London, depicting a scene satirizing race relations in America. Shows the dandy standing and with one foot on the boy's shoe shine box in front of a back drop depicted as a wall adorned with broadsides referencing abolition, slavery, and emancipation. The dandy is attired in striped and checkered pants, a jacket with tails, a ruffled shirt, and top hat. He holds a walking stick under one arm and a cigarette in his other hand. The boy kneels and shines the dandy's shoes with his shining supplies and tools by his box. Broadsides include a "playbill" reading "Adelphi. Tonight The White Slave. Description: Scrapbook containing portraiture, predominately patriotic envelopes, of Civil War military and political figures. Majority of the envelopes issued by prolific New York publisher Charles Magnus, with several from his series "Generals of the Potomac Army" and "Heroes of Successful Expeditions." Also contains portrait prints, stationery, and non-portrait and ephemera materials, including newspaper clippings, manuscript letters, autographs, playbills, an illustrated songsheet, and a performance program. Several of the portrait prints were originally published in the 1861-1863 volumes of "The Rebellion Record" edited by Frank Moore., Majority of clippings detail the controversial death and funeral of Col. Edward D. Baker. Manuscript letters include correspondence from 28th PA Regt. Beck Band musician, Samuel A. Murray to John McAllister, Jr. about collecting Southern Civil War relics and letters.
