Title: Scrapbook of Greeting Cards, Menus, Invitations, etc.
Description: Scrapbook compiled by Philadelphia socialite Minnie Campbell Wilson (neé Harris) containing primarily place, greeting, holiday and calling cards predominantly issued in the United Kingdom and the Northeast United States. Majority of the cards are printed and or chromolithographs, with a small number illustrated with drawings by hand. Many cards also contain ornate border details, embossing, and adornments, including ribbons, fringe, lace, a wishbone, and overlays.

Description: Limited edition, souvenir miniature book containing a photographic frontispiece and describing a Vaux family trip to the Yellowstone National Park in August 1885. Photograph shows a woman and young man, probably Mary Vaux and one of her brothers, standing near a geyser, probably one of the several described in the text.

Description: Group portrait showing a line of eight men, including an African American employee and possibly co-owner Balthazar Stahl (third from right), standing in front of the flower store with large display windows marked "LaRoche & Stahl." Bouquets of flowers, floral wreathes, and other floral arrangements are displayed. A retracted awning with the name if the business adorns the building. A large garland of flowers is weaved across the awning frame. Potted plants line the base of the building and entryway near where the men stand. In the far left, the back of a horse traveling in the street near men patronizing a vendor's stand at the side of the flower store is visible. In the far right, signage for the adjacent business is partially visible. Florist Maximilian F. La Roche partnered with his brother-in-law Batlhazar Stahl in 1878. The partnership also managed several large greenhouses in Collingdale, Pa., which specialized in chrysanthemums and roses. Previously, La Roche had operated his own floral business in Philadelphia beginning circa 1876 when he purchased Brooker & Co. at 1319 Chestnut Street. La Roche removed his store to 1237 Chestnut in 1881. Description: Photographic reproduction of a caricature satirizing Benjamin Butler's failed expedition at Bermuda Hundred on the peninsula at the confluence of the Appomattox and James rivers during the Bermuda Hundred Campaign (1864). Title: An unpleasantness in Swampoodle
Description: Photographic reproduction of a print drawn by Helen M. Colburn, daughter of New Jersey artist Rembrandt Lockwood, depicting an altercation in the post-Reconstruction African American and Irish northeast Washington, D.C. working-class neighborhood "Swampoodle." The figures are drawn with racist and caricatured features and mannerisms. In the center, an African American woman holds an ax up to another African American woman who stands with her hands at her hips, and with a look of surprise on her face. A third African American woman to the left of the woman with an ax attempts to reach for the weapon, while a fourth African American woman holds a switch and looks on with a stunned expression. Beside the stunned woman, a small African American boy stands in front of a fifth African American woman leaning over to pick up a rock. In the far left, an African American police officer is being led by an African American boy to the group of women. Description: Photographic reproduction of a print drawn by Helen M. Colburn, daughter of New Jersey artist Rembrandt Lockwood, depicting African American women and girl spectators reacting to a passing African American marching band. Pandita Ramabai Sarasvati was born into a Brahmin family in India. She became a Sanskrit scholar, and in 1878, Calcutta University conferred on her the titles of Pandita and Sarasvati in recognition of her knowledge of various Sanskrit works. She married Bipin Behari Medhvi, a Bengali lawyer, who died in 1882. She traveled to Britain and converted to Christianity. She toured and lectured in the United States and Canada raising money for destitute Indian women. She advocated for women's rights and opened Mukti Mission, a school for child-widows. Manorama Medhavi was educated at the Community of St. Mary the Virgin, Chesbrough Seminary, and earned a degree from Bombay University. Manorama, the daughter of Pundita Ramabai, who returned to India last fall, has become her mother's prime minister. Manorama has graduated in June 1900, at the A.M. Chessborough Seminary, North Chili, N.Y. She was at the head of her class, received honors, and was awarded the prize by the board of regents of New York University. Professor and Mrs. Roberts, principals of the seminary, speak with unqualified praise of her ability, strength of character, good judgment, and devotion to her chosen work. Her self-poise and yet utter unconsciousness of self charmed all who met her. She has joined in her mother's work for child-widows with a spirit of consecration and a degree of energy remarkable in a girl not yet out of her teens. -- Woman's Journal.
