Title: To Mrs. Amelia Bloomer The new costume polka composed for the piano by Mathias Keller
Description: Sheet music cover containing a portrait of a woman attired in a bloomer costume, standing in front of the storefront of music publishers Lee & Walker on the 600 block of Chestnut Street. The lady holds a blue parasol, and wears a corseted pink-colored coat and pale yellow skirt over her white bloomers. A model harp adorns the door of the music store in which a female patron wearing a bloomer costume enters. Also shows the neighboring J. A. Robinson bookstore (162, i.e., 632 Chestnut). Pedestrians, including another woman in bloomers, walk on the sidewalk, past the store, and look in its window. The bloomer costume gained notoriety from an 1851 depiction of women's rights advocate Amelia Bloomer in this style of reform dress comprised of Turkish pantaloons and a skirt., Additional distributors printed on recto: New York, Wm. Eight men, four boys, and a woman socialize. Most of the men wear suits with plain pants, long coats, bow ties or a cravat and wear top hats and hold canes. Description: Genre scene showing female students gathered on the main path and grounds at the west end of the main building of the co-educational Quaker boarding school. Girls stroll, converse, read under a tree, and hold hands in a game. Also shows a man with a young boy, and another man carrying two baskets, walking on the grounds landscaped with several trees. Westtown was established in 1794 by the Society of Friends as a boarding school for boys and girls. The campus was separated into the girls' and boys' bounds, i.e., yards for recreation. Description: Commemorative print containing a pasted lithograph of an exterior view of the Presbyterian church with colonnade portico (811 N. 7th Street). Lithograph partially printed over and surrounded by an ornate chromolithgraphed decorative border and pasted letterpress cutouts. Shows pedestrian traffic in front of the church built 1853-1854 under the supervision of the building committee of Rev. Dr. J. F. Berg, George Hawes, D. W. C. Moore, and Charles Collins Jr. Pedestrians include a man carrying a bundle on his shoulder and a boy playing with a hoop. Congregation organized in 1852 from members withdrawn from the First German Reformed Church.
