Title: Mower U. S. A. General Hospital, Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia
Description: Bird's eye view showing the Civil War hospital, which contains a central complex of administrative and utility buildings, and radiating hospital wards, all within a circumference of one mile. These buildings are numbered 1 through 40 in the image, with the key on the bottom of the print near the title. Buildings 1 through 21 are listed on the left side of the title and 22 through 40 are listed on the right. Outside of the hospital complex people wait at the station for an incoming train. Horses pull drays to and from the blacksmith shop, stables and freight shop, which are all adjacent to the train station. Trees surround the complex., Copyrighted by W. The hospital, designed as a pavilion to control the spread of infection, consisted of several hospital wards radiating from a central enclosed complex of administrative and utility buildings. Complex included the administration building, a chapel, post office, band-stand, food preparation shops and storage houses, a barber shop, dining room, and guard house. Hospital utilized fresh water from the Chestnut Hill water works, gas lighting, and indoor plumbing. Building was razed following the war.

Description: Advertisement souvenir print distributed by the Philadelphia furniture dealers containing a montage of 3 panoramas, 3 views, and 2 allegorical vignettes. Panoramas show schematic views of Philadelphia, and the views show Independence Hall, 1867 and Gould & Company's Union Depots located at N.E. cor. 9th & Market Sts. and at 37 & 39 N. Second Street. Panoramic views predominately show the Eastern, Western, and Central portions of the city from across the Schuylkill and Delaware rivers. Major landmarks are visually highlighted and identified by text below the images. Includes (lower view) the U.S. Mint, Market St. Bridge, Academy of Music, St. Mark's Church, Academy of Natural Science, Pennsylvania College, New Chestnut St. Bridge, Deaf & Dumb Asylum, Naval Asylum, Alms House, County Prison, Insane Asylum, Nth. Traffic includes horse and hand-drawn carts loaded with crates and furniture. Also shows the Market Street depot covered in advertising text. Independence Hall view contains heavy street traffic. Horse-drawn carts, carriages, delivery wagons, and omnibuses congest the street aside laborers pushing hand-carts, people on horseback, and pedestrians crossing the street. Pedestrians also walk in front of Independence Hall. American flags adorn the storefronts and Independence Hall. Title: Civil War stationery collection
Description: Collection of stationery containing patriotic designs often used on patriotic envelopes, with a majority including a title, slogan, and/or verse. Designs predominately include views of regiment camps; images of soldiers, including battle and camp life scenes; patriotic symbols including flags, eagles, bells, shields, stars and the figure of liberty; portraiture of historic and military figures; and basic designs including stripes, colored edges, and lined borders. Unique designs with assigned LCP numbers include an untitled regiment view showing the soldiers playing baseball, possibly at Abner Doubleday's camp (RE-LCP 35); a view of Poughkeepsie from 1854 (SC-NW-LCP-3); the New York funeral procession for Abraham Lincoln on April 25, 1865 (SC-NW-LCP-4); two designs published by J.W. Barber of New Haven showing bars of music from "My Country Tis of Thee" (O-M-LCP-8) and an allegorical scene of Liberty fighting treason, rebellion, tyranny, and oppression (F-P-LCP-1). Collection also contains a series of seven Charles Magnus hand-colored designs containing birds-eye views and military maps. Views show Fortress Monroe, Old Point Comfort and Hygeia Hotel, Va. and the Capitol. Military maps shows Maryland and Virginia; Virginia between Washington and Manassas Junction; Richmond and Alexandria; Fortress Monroe and Richmond; and the southern coast between Fortress Monroe and New Orleans.
