- Originally part of a McAllister scrapbook of Civil War miscellanies., Trimmed., Patriotic print, possibly a poster illustration, containing a central allegorical scene flanked by views of Civil War battlefields. Central scene shows men of all eras and trades, including a sailor with an American flag, raising their arms in salute to the Temple of Liberty elevated upon a rock in the background. Other figures include a farmer with a sickle, a veteran of the American Revolution, and a wagon driver. Also shows boughs of wheat and artisans tools. Battle views show soldiers, including Zouaves, charging, traveling on horseback, and firing a cannon. Variant of print often used as a Civil War envelope design.

- Copyright secured., Originally part of a McAllister scrapbook of Civil War views., Retrospective conversion record: original entry, edited, Shows a large crowd of spectators surrounding a platform of dignitaries in Independence Square for the July 4th celebration commemorating the return of colors to the state by the Pennsylvania regiments. American flags and banners adorn the rear of Independence Hall. Several military personnel, flags, and a banner advertising King & Baird, book & job printers, are visible in the foreground. Veterans from over one-hundred regiments and the orphan children of soldiers and sailors killed during the Civil War attended the ceremony officiated by Mayor General George G. Meade and Governor Andrew G. Curtin.

Carryl & Co. of the pattern and free cloth remnants supplied by the U.S. Arsenal; and the receipt of the mittens by the "Philadelphia Ladies Aid Society." - Advertisement depicting a "shoe blacking" competition between two African American shoe shiners to promote the manufactory of blacking established in 1832 by James S. Mason. Shows two African American men, portrayed in racist caricature, holding a brush, a canister of "Mason's" blacking, and a boot, while they dance on a table. An African American man fiddler sits on a stool and plays. In the foreground, a white man holds an oversized boot. A white shoe shine boy, his pack on his back, stands behind an older man holding his arm as he points at his reflection in the boot. In the left background, a troop of white Union soldiers marches in behind a parade marshal adorned in "M" insignias. The men carry a banner reading "Mason's (Original) Challenge Blacking (Philadelphia)," as well as boots, and signs spelling "M-A-S-O-N." - Emancipation print contrasting African American life during and after slavery. Central scene portrays the interior of a free person's home where several generations of the family socialize around a "Union" stove as the mother cooks. The horrors of slavery are depicted through scenes of the flogging, branding, selling, and capturing of enslaved people. The forthcoming results of freedom are depicted through scenes of the exterior of a free person's cottage, African American children attending public school, and African Americans receiving payment for their work. Also depicted are: a baby angel freeing the shackles of a kneeling enslaved man as the angel is held under the year 1863 by Father Time; Thomas Crawford's statue of freedom; and the hellhound Cerberus fleeing liberty. The Great Central or Sanitary Fair of 1864 was organized by the Philadelphia division of the United States Sanitary Commission to raise money for their soldier relief organization. - Collection of prints and ephemera, predominantly depicting Elmer Ellsworth, and originally part of a scrapbook of miscellaneous Civil War materials collected by John A. McAllister. Includes portrait prints, lettersheets, and illustrations depicting Ellsworth or his death, as well as a memorial work containing symbols of patriotism and mourning. Collection also contains lettersheets illustrated with the Union flag, and the song “America” bordered by state seals; a full-length portrait of General Nathaniel Lyon, the first Union general killed during the war; and memorial portrait of Sen. Edward D. Baker killed at the Battle of Ball’s Bluff., Various artists, engravers, and printers, including C. Y. Haynes, J. Magee, A. B. Walter, and Alonzo Chappel., Various publishers, including J. - Description
- Collection of stationery containing patriotic designs often used on patriotic envelopes, with a majority including a title, slogan, and/or verse. Designs predominately include views of regiment camps; images of soldiers, including battle and camp life scenes; patriotic symbols including flags, eagles, bells, shields, stars and the figure of liberty; portraiture of historic and military figures; and basic designs including stripes, colored edges, and lined borders. Unique designs with assigned LCP numbers include an untitled regiment view showing the soldiers playing baseball, possibly at Abner Doubleday's camp (RE-LCP 35); a view of Poughkeepsie from 1854 (SC-NW-LCP-3); the New York funeral procession for Abraham Lincoln on April 25, 1865 (SC-NW-LCP-4); two designs published by J.W. Barber of New Haven showing bars of music from "My Country Tis of Thee" (O-M-LCP-8) and an allegorical scene of Liberty fighting treason, rebellion, tyranny, and oppression (F-P-LCP-1). Collection also contains a series of seven Charles Magnus hand-colored designs containing birds-eye views and military maps. Views show Fortress Monroe, Old Point Comfort and Hygeia Hotel, Va. and the Capitol. Military maps shows Maryland and Virginia; Virginia between Washington and Manassas Junction; Richmond and Alexandria; Fortress Monroe and Richmond; and the southern coast between Fortress Monroe and New Orleans. Collection also includes a small number of Confederate stationery. Confederates designs include a view of enslaved African American people driving a wagon of supplies to a battlefield and a satire of Abraham Lincoln as an Native American chief. Portraits include George Washington, George McClellan, and Elmer Ellsworth.
