Full-length standing portraits of diminutive Etta and Dollie Dutton, with a significantly taller child standing between them.
Notes
In Ballou's pictorial drawing-room companion, v. 16, no. 20 (May 14, 1859), p. 305.
“The accompanying engraving of the already famous “Fairy Children” is from a drawing made expressly for us by Mr. Homer [i.e., Winslow Homer] ….”
Dollie Dutton, known as the “Little Fairy,” had a stage career as a singer and a dancer. She and her sister Etta performed together before Etta died at the age of eight.
