Notes
The Gray Reserves, the First Regiment Infantry Reserve Brigade, was organized in Philadelphia in April 1861, under command of Col. Peter C. Ellmaker; Charles S. Smith was captain of Co. A until March 1863. During the crisis of 1862, the Gray Reserves were absorbed whole into the 7th Infantry Regiment of the Pennsylvania Militia. Cf. J.W. Latta.
