Description Interior view of the Civil War hospital. Shows convalescing soldiers, seated, in opposite rows, along the walls of a ward. A few men, possibly hospital attendants, stand among the patients. South Street Hospital was also known as "stump hospital" given the large number of amputations performed at the facility.
