Arcadia caption text: The two main floors of the Union League offered its male members a library, reading room, parlors, and
dining rooms in which to socialize, conduct business, or discuss politics over dinner, drinks, or a good cigar. In the basement,
members like this young man, photographed in the late 1860s, could enjoy a game of billiards under the watchful eye of General
Ulysses S. Grant’s portrait.
