Description
View showing the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad Company offices at 227 South Fourth Street during the construction of the 1871 addition designed by Collins & Autenrieth. The offices remained at the site from the time of original construction in 1850 (designs by John M. Gries) until 1893 and the completion of the new Philadelphia and Reading terminal at 12th and Market streets. Also shows construction materials including concrete blocks, bricks, and planks of wood laying in front of the office building and in the street.
