Description
Series of tradecards advertising the lithographic firm established as Craig, Butt & Finley in 1869 and renamed Craig, Finley & Co. in 1872. Seven of the tradecards depict quaint scenes of children at play and work in addition to one containing a montage of vignette views of buildings at the Centennial Exhibition of 1876. Scenes include a boy presenting flowers to a girl, children witnessing breaking and broken wares, children chasing a rabbit, a shepherd boy with a lamb, and girls performing the wash. All the boys are attired in knickers and most wear hats. Most of the girls are attired in peasant-like dresses. Centennial tradecard shows Machinery Hall, the Main Building, Art Gallery, Agricultural Hall, and Horticultural Hall. Also includes the promotional text: Publishers of this style Centennial Card. Firm operated until 1950.
