Description
Advertisement for the "Atlantic" tugboat operated by Schellinger. Shows the tug cruising on the water with a man at the helm and another at the bow. The vessel carries an American flag, a flag with the name of the boat, and a lifeboat. Also shows sailboats in the right of the image. By the mid-nineteenth century steam tugs supplanted oared tugs in the navigation of sailing ships through rivers to their port of call.
