Description
Advertisement containing a view of a chemistry laboratory during the middle ages. Shows the chemist and his assistants performing experiments surrounded by flasks of chemical solutions, books, a cauldron, and a fish hanging from the ceiling. Scene surrounded by an ornate border containing flags, flowers, chemical packets, and equipment used in chemistry including flasks, mortars, and burners. Also contains advertising text lithographed on the verso announcing the employment by Duval & Son of James Queen as superintendent of their drawing department. Text also promotes the ability of the firm to "execute any style of work" including portraits, anatomical and engineer drawings, views of factories, show cards, bill heads, and circulars.
